Dollars for Woollahra and Double Bay solar

Nicole Molloy, Principal of Woollahra Public and Katherine Arrowsmith, Assistant Principal of Double Bay Public School were thrilled to win grant funding for their solar projects at a recent awards ceremony. They each received $2000 from Woollahra Council as part of their Community Environment Grants.

This Grants program aims to support local schools and community groups to implement sustainability projects. Grants are open to all local schools, early learning centres and community groups for activities or projects that protect or enhance our local environment.

This is the first time solar power projects have been submitted to these 12-year old grants and received support.

Woollahra Public School will use the funds to help install a 40kW system on their school hall, with a 30kW system planned at Double Bay Public School. Both schools have been exploring solar as part of the Solar my School program, alongside over 40 other schools participating in the program.

Once installed, the solar will help cut energy bills, shrink their carbon footprint and be a useful tool to educate students on the benefits of clean green energy.
